Louis Kelly Ortega, age 77, went to be with our heavenly father on Sunday, October 22, 2023. He was born to Fred Ortega and Jennie Giron on August 19, 1946, in Trinidad, Colorado.
He attended West High School, graduating in 1964 before enlisting into the Navy in 1965. During his four-year enlistment, he was a Third-Class Storekeeper. After his tour, he enlisted in the Navy Reserve from 1969 to 1971. After returning home, he worked for GE and shortly after found his passion in painting. He joined the union in the 80's, then decided to start his own Painting business in the early 90's, and retired in his early 70's. He instilled in his daughters that whatever work should be done, do so as if you were working for the lord. He was honest and fair, and his word and a handshake were his contract. He never took a day off and worked from sunup to sundown.
Louis' legacy is one of faith and integrity. He was eager to hear Jesus say to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant!". If you ever got to spend time with him, his conversations always included teachings from the bible and his philosophy on life. We will all miss him until we join him in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
Louis is survived by his wife, Amelia "Rose" Ortega, and daughters, Diana Martel, Monica Ortega, and Marsha Acosta (Angelo). Grandchildren include Cande Cruz, Marissa Ortega, Kolby Parker, Santiago Ortega, Mateo Cruz, Lino Cruz, and eight great-grandchildren.
