Lorraine Althea Schaefer

September 14, 1924 - September 9, 2013 Lorraine Althea Schaefer of Westminster, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at Keystone Place Assisted Living Center; she was 88 years old. She was born September 14, 1924 in Denver, Colorado to the late Edward W. Aileen W. Lindquist. She and her sister Beverly were raised in what they called the Barnum area of Denver. She was a graduate of West High School and Burrough Business School. She married William Arther Schaefer on July 15, 1945, they were married 49 years until his death November 8, 1994. They moved to Westminster in 1948. They had two twin children, Linda Sue and Lance Earl. Lorraine was a charter member of Westminster United Methodist Church and Order of The Eastern Star, Loyalty 145. She worked for 8 years at Montgomery Ward in the payroll department and then for 24 years for District 50 Schools in Food Service. She also helped to form a number of organizations in Westminster including, 1st Twins Club of Westminster, Eastern Star, Retired District Employees, Senior Center, and AARP. Following her retirement she volunteered at schools, belonged to Senior Friends, Dorcus, and was very proud of her grandchildren. Lorraine is survived by her two children, Linda Edward Kugler, and Lance Earl Schaefer; four grandchildren, Schannon Schaefer, Heather Johnson, Keri A. Kugler, and Andrew Kugler; six great grandchildren, Blake Yost, Ciarra Johnson, Asley Wydra, Brandon Wydra, Alex Wydra, and Samantha Wydra; a host of other relatives and friends also survive her. Graveside services and interment will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 9:30am at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area “B”; Rev. Sandy Bearg will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Malesich and Shirey Funeral Home of Arvada.
