Lola Jane Johnson of Arvada left this earth for her heavenly home on December 29, 2018. Lola was born to Victor and Gladys Billington on July 30, 1929 in Timnath, Colorado. She grew up in Greeley. Lola supported herself from an early age and worked her way through college. In 1951 she graduated from Colorado Teachers College in Greeley (now UNC). On August 15, 1953 Lola married Bill Johnson in Lubbock, Texas. Bill was in the oil business and for several years they moved often, living in various western towns and eventually settled in Arvada. Lola was a teacher and later a substitute teacher in Jefferson County. She also worked for the Denver Broncos. She was a big sports fan, especially the Broncos and the NFL. Lola was the proud mother of three boys. She loved to golf and was a member of Rolling Hills Country Club for over 40 years. She also enjoyed bridge and was a fabulous cook. How best to describe Lola? Generous, a big heart, funny, a great friend, very outgoing, a huge people person, wise and brutally honest. Lola lived a big life with a large circle of friends…as we boys like to say, “she had a good run.” Lola was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Bill (1999). She is survived by her brother E. Scott Billington of Fort Collins, her three sons Cory (Judy) of Fort Collins, Craig of Denver and Scotty (Angela) of Brighton. Lola loved her grandchildren Aaron, Trevor, Eli and Jovanna and great grandchildren Denver and Braden. There will be a celebration of her life at Rolling Hills Country Club in Golden.
