December 11, 1930 - February 15, 2015 Former long-time Hotchkiss resident, Lloyd Glenn King, passed away from lung disease on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Lutheran Collier Hospice in Wheat Ridge. He was 84. Glenn was born in Kim, CO, on December 11, 1930, to Leslie and Pearl (Price) King. He spent his childhood and attended school in Paonia, graduating in 1948. He married Jean Flynn July, 29, 1951. After her death in 1998, he married Helen (Hyatt) Holder October 21, 2000. After her death in 2005, Edna Purnell became his companion. Glenn worked in the construction industry, was a truck driver, and co-owner of North Fork Sand Gravel before retiring. He was a life-time member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Hotchkiss Elks and served as a volunteer and Assistant Fire Chief for the Hotchkiss Fire Dept. for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and ATV's. Glenn is survived by daughter, Linda (Ellis) Penland; two granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren, all of Arvada, CO, and a sister, Dell Shelton of Uvalde, TX; Helen's children, Bruce (Tammy) Holder of Centennial, CO; Sharon Holder of Sheridan, WY; Wayne (Ruth) Holder of Louisville, CO; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Edna's children, Gail Purnell of Las Vegas, NV, and Jim Purnell of Hotchkiss. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Jean; his wife of five years, Helen; and his companion Edna; son, Robert Glenn King; brothers, Seabron, Lee, and Phillip King; two sisters, Allene Gorby and Virginia King. A celebration of his life will be held 1:00PM Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Hotchkiss Elks Lodge 190 E. Bridge Street Hotchkiss, CO. Memorial contributions may be made to North Fork Ambulance Assn., Box 127, Hotchkiss, CO 81419. Glenn was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all.
