Linda Kay Leners

February 11, 1944 ~ March 18, 2015 Linda K. Leners was born in Beatrice, NE on February 11, 1944.  She passed away on March 18, 2015. Linda was raised on a farm near Virginia, NE.  After graduating from high school, she attended and  graduated from the University of Nebraska with a major in elementary education.  She taught at Kohl Elementary School in Broomfield, CO for 36 years.  In 1999 Linda was awarded the Impact Award for her creativity, passion, and tenacity that it takes to educate the future leaders of America. Linda loved travelling, friends and family, and working for her church.  At church she played in the bell choir, was active in the health cabinet, and helped out wherever needed. Linda is survived by her brother Dennis and wife Bonnie, her sister Joyce Cates, nephew Rod Cates and niece Tamara (Dave) Morgali, nephews Rodney Cates, Jake Morgali, and Eli Morgali, and great nephew Brayden Cates.  She was preceded in death by parents Wilke R. Leners and Marie (Tholen) Leners, and brother Robert Leland Leners. Viewing will take place at Holy Cross Lutheran Church at 45th and Wadsworth on March 20 from 5 pm to 7 pm.  Memorial services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on March 21 at 11 a.m. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Community Bible Study, or Samaritans Purse. Graveside services will take place at Filley Cemetery in Filley, NE on March 24 at 2;30 p.m.
