Lillian Mondragon

November 9, 1935 — October 20, 2023

Lillian Mondragon age 87; born in Taos New Mexico on November 9, 1935 to Beres and Rose Mondragon passed away on October 20, 2023 in Longmont Colorado.


She grew up in Taos New Mexico where her heart will always remain as she had a very happy upbringing with her siblings. Her first job was at the La Fonda hotel as an agent for trailways bus line in the plaza. She met the love of her life, Manuel, while still in Taos. They were married on April 12, 1958, and moved to Leadville, Colorado that same year. They remained in Leadville until they relocated to Longmont, Colorado in 2018; they had a happy and loving union for 65 years.


Lillian was a homemaker. While growing a family, as her children grew, she began a long-term and fulfilling job as a cook at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville where she retired in 1999. She will be remembered for her incredible meals prepared for her family daily and especially for holidays when the entire family was in her home. Her happiest days were when her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were around her and in her care. Biscochitos and her holiday cookies will never be forgotten by her family, her heart was in them every year.


Lillian loved her family and was blessed with four children: Rick (Daphne) Mondragon, Ronnie (Rose) Mondragon, Robbie (Yvonne) Mondragon and Rena (Mike) Sanchez. Ten grandchildren; Danielle [Scott] Watson, Paul [ Rosa] Mondragon, Hugh Mondragon, Ryan [Rebecca] Mondragon, Jordan Sanchez, Randy Mondragon, Michaela Sanchez and seven great grandchildren; Lucas Watson, Amari Mondragon, Leo Watson, Raelyn Mondragon, Romeo Mondragon, Jocelyn Mondragon, and Rhett Mondragon.


Lillian was preceded in death by her parents: Beres and Rose Mondragon, her brothers: Edmundo Mondragon and Lawrence Mondragon; her sister: Loyola Martinez and her son Rick Mondragon.


She is survived by her husband Manuel, three of her children, sisters: Susana Garcia and Cassandra Mondragon and many nieces, nephews and God children.
