January 7, 1929 - January 28, 2013 Leonard H. (Len) Lamb January 7, 1929 to January 28, 2013 Leonard Lamb was born on January 7, 1929 in Pueblo, Colorado to Elizabeth and Constantine Lamb. His only sibling, Robert, was eleven years older than him. Growing up there, he graduated from Pueblo Central High School, attended the local junior college and then transferred to the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he completed his Pre-Med studies. After his stay in Boulder, he was accepted to the Chicago School of Osteopathy and upon completing his studies, was awarded his medical doctorate as a Doctor of Osteopathy. While at the University of Colorado, he met a young woman from Texas named LaVerne and a romance began. They fell in love, got married on June 23, 1952 and together, moved to Chicago. They decided to start a family and their first child, Debra, was born three years later. A year later, they had their first son, Leonard Jr., followed by Michael two years later, John three years after that and finally Thomas, two years later. After completing his residency in Chicago, Leonard moved his family back to the Denver area. He completed his internship in Colorado and started his medical practice by opening his family clinic in(Derby) Commerce City and joined the staff at Lamb Hospital in Denver. When Lamb Hospital closed, he moved to Valley View Hospital and when it closed he was instrumental in the start up of the new North Suburban Medical Center. He served as the Medical Chief of Staff for three years and Chief of Family Practice for two more years. He continued his family practice for forty-six years, attending to the needs of numerous generations of families. In 2002, he retired from his active practice. The family lived in Derby until 1961 and then moved to Park Hill. In 1969, they built a new home on the outskirts of Arvada and raised the children. Both Leonard and LaVerne remained living in the family home until their passing. Leonard was preceded in death by his only daughter Debra, his wife LaVerne, his parents and brother, Robert. He is survived by his four sons, Leonard Jr., Michael, John, and Thomas, and his seven grand children, Adam, Brian, Brianne, Matthew, Katherine, Jack and Justin. Leonard was active in the medical community, serving on numerous boards and committees during his career. He was a serving member of the Catholic Church, first at Blessed Sacrament in Park Hill and then at St. Joan of Arc in Arvada. He was a member of the leadership groups for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and was an avid outdoorsman, woodworker and winemaker. Final interment will be Tuesday February 5, 2013 at 10:00am, after a private graveside ceremony at the Arvada Cemetery.
