Lawrence "Larry" D. Piehn

January 13, 1952 - June 3, 2015 Family and Friends of Larry Piehn – Larry (63) passed away on Wednesday June 3rd at 6:40am after a massive stroke on June 2nd. His wife of 34 years, Gwen, daughters Lauren Tanner and Zani Slack, their husbands Kerry Tanner and Brock Slack, his parents Don and Dorothy and brother Tom and wife Denise are very grateful that he was spared the suffering of a long illness. Larry started working for John Crane in 1970 as a draftsman (like his father) working during school breaks. His 40+ year career with John Crane took him to Morton Grove, IL, Buffalo, NY, Bakersfield, CA and Denver, CO.  Over the years, he developed close relationships that continued past his retirement. His passion for teaching the new generation of Engineers, and teaching the older ones some new tricks was evident in his commitment to doing things right and strong work ethic. Larry’s 10 year association with Profire USA and then the Colorado Mounted Rangers was a source of great pride to him and sense of fulfillment.  He had tremendous admiration for his fellow Rangers and cherished the friendships made there.
