Lawrence Dean Raymond

May 23, 1952 — July 19, 2017

Mr. Lawrence (Larry) Raymond, 65, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday July 19, 2017. Larry lived the majority of his life in Denver. He graduated from Denver West High School and Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado in the 70’s. After marrying Jean Beyer Landis and gaining an instant family with a toddler, they began their family together adding three more children throughout their marriage. After college, Larry drove a beer delivery truck for Miller Brewing Co. and eventually moved on to carpet/flooring sales where he remained for the rest of his career. He enjoyed the art of the sale. Whether he was winning awards (he did), or convincing his children that he wrote the song “All Night Laundry Mat Blues” (he didn’t), he was a great salesman! Larry was a man ahead of his time. He backpacked through Europe, taking a “gap year” prior to starting college, long before that was cool. Always seeking to be outdoors, Larry enjoyed biking, camping and skiing. Over the years, he loved being on his motorcycle, grilling his famous pinwheel steaks, and appreciating music. Larry was always up for a good time, taking road trips to Gunnison, camping at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, attending the Sturgis rally, and traveling to South Dakota, especially if he was hanging out with family. Larry loved to hear about his children’s travel adventures and participated with engaging tales of his own travels. Along with his adventurous spirit, he also believed in education and the experience of college. He was extremely proud that all his children graduated from college. “Big Papa”, as he was known to his grandchildren, had already started talking to them about the importance of college. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Adelord Raymond and Joyce Raymond. Larry is survived by his siblings, James (Debi) Raymond and Joan Raymond; children Christopher (Lisa) Landis, Andrea (Lucus) Romero, Jonathan (Mark Terrel) Raymond, and Nicholas Raymond; grandchildren, Maxwell Landis, Emilia Romero, Owen Landis and Allison Romero. Larry’s service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 28, 2017 at Our Lady of Fatima (1985 Miller Street, Lakewood, CO 80215). Luncheon reception to follow in Olde Town Arvada.
