In the 50's many children, like Larry, were sent to institutions. Larry lived in a state institution and nursing home for roughly 19 years. in 1975, he moved into his own apartment and lived independently until his untimely death. Micah 6:8 "And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God." Larry was a strong advocate for the provision of accessible mass transit and attendant care for persons with severe disabilities. Through his commitment to ADAPT, Larry was arrested over 60 times in dozens of cities across the U.S. He holds the record. You toiled so hard for those you loved. You said goodbye to none, Your spirit flew before we knew, Your work on earth was done. We miss you now, Our hearts are sore, As time goes by we miss you more. Your loving smile, your gentle face: No one can fill your vacant place. Your life was love and labor. Your love for friends is true. You did the best for all of us. We will always remember you.
