Larry W. Decker

July 29, 1954 — October 28, 2020

“Decker” as he was called, Even by those who knew his name, was a father, Grandfather, brother, and a great friend to people he cared about most. One of the many memories that we have always involved fishing. I’m not sure, but I think he had two kinds of bait. One regular and one filled with a magical love. Every time we went fishing, Larry would get everyone’s poles ready for them, worms and all. As the day would go on, everyone caught a fish or a few. If Larry had any luck he might’ve caught one, but it would most definitely be the smallest of all. This is where the magical love bait would come into place. He wanted and loved to watch everyone else have fun and get excited to catch fish, more so than himself catching them. That’s why I think he baited our poles with something extra special. On October 28, 2020 Larry peacefully passed away due to health complications. Even though he had endured health issues for many years, they never stopped him from making the most out of life. Larry was always telling stories, remembering the good ole days and getting a good chuckle every now and then. Larry grew up in Craig, Colorado. He went to Moffatt County High School and Fruita Monument High School. He spent most of his younger “ Bad to the bone “ years throughout the western slope of Colorado, growing up there gave him all the values he held close to his heart. He loved fishing and will comment on how fishing was more then just fishing. It was a path to help people to connect to the world and to God. Larry was very patriotic, he loved America and what it stands for. He was a patriot of the constitution, and the second amendment. Anyone that knew him, knew that Larry was very confident he did all the jobs people were afraid of, and stood up for what he believed in. Larry loved the people who he was closest to. Whether that be his daughter, his grandchildren, his siblings, old acquaintances and the many friends he gathered throughout his life. He was cremated per his wishes and the Family is planning a celebration of life at Hog Park Spring/summer 2021. There will be many stories told, many laughs to be held, and many shots of whiskey..... minus the heroin. Larry will forever be missed and will remain in our hearts .... love you dad “Forever and a Day."
