Kenneth “Kenny” Barz died on 2/9/2015 in Lafayette, CO at the age of 51. He is survived by his mother, Cheryl Price; his wife of 20 years, Mary; children, Sarah and Kevin; sister, Christi Huntley; and brothers, Eric Barz and Randy Price. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Barz and brother, Ian Barz. Ken was born on 2/8/1964 in Joliet, IL to Gerald and Cheryl Barz. The family moved to Colorado, and Ken graduated from Northglenn High School in 1979. He met Mary at a music party in 1993, and they were married in 1994. He graduated from University of Northern Colorado in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in Statistics, and again in 1997 with a master’s degree in Statistics. Ken had many accomplishments in his lifetime; he was an Eagle Scout, a U.S. Army calibration specialist with honorable discharge, had a long career as a statistical programmer, as well as a short stint teaching math. As an avid hiker, Ken summited 41 of 53 Colorado fourteeners; he even climbed Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina, although he didn’t summit. He aspired to be a writer, and has one published poem. He also played guitar and sang, writing his own lyrics. Donations to the Mile High Council Boy Scouts of America (www.denverboyscouts.org) in Ken’s name would be greatly appreciated.
