Katherine (Kate) Gee

July 31, 1978 — August 17, 2019

Katherine (Kate) Gee, 41, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away at Collier Hospice Center August 17, 2019. She was born July 31, 1978, and grew up in Denver and Lakewood, Colorado. She graduated from Lakewood High School in 1996, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Photography degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver, and earned a Masters degree in Information and Communication Technology, Project Management from University of Denver. She worked several years for MillerCoors as a Corporate Security Systems Analyst, before becoming a Product Owner with CA Technologies. From a young age Kate had dreams of seeing the world. She was able to realize those dreams by traveling to many countries alongside her boyfriend of many years, Matt Piotrowski. France, Germany, Italy, Finland, Iceland and Switzerland were among her favorites. She also enjoyed being able to see a few of the small islands/atolls of the Federated States of Micronesia between Guam and Hawaii. One of Matt and Kate’s favorite quotes was, “I haven’t been everywhere yet, but it’s on the list!” She was a talented photographer, with several of her photographs being displayed in different studios in Denver as part of art shows. She took hundreds of photos of her journeys and of her many friends. Her gift for painting and pencil/charcoal sketching produced beautiful pieces, many of which were gifts to family and friends. Another great passion was her dog, Daisy. Kate is survived by her loving family: parents, Merle and Rebecca Gee; brothers Daniel (Ginger) and Philip Gee; niece Sarah Gee; nephew Elliot Gee; grandmother Frances Gee. She also leaves behind much-loved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended Burleigh family, boyfriend Matt Piotrowski, and a large circle of treasured friends. Her beautiful smile will be missed by many people. “Those we love never truly leave us. There are things that death cannot touch.” ― Jack Thorne “Not all who wander are lost.” – J.R.R.
