Julie K. Deffert

Julie K Deffert (51 years) passed away on November 14 th , 2017 in Arvada, Colorado. She was born on April 23 rd , 1966 in Denver, Colorado to Larry W. Simpson and Joyce (Ulibarri) Martinez. She was raised in Lindale, Texas then returned to Colorado as a Teenager where she meet her husband of 32 years, Richard. Julie was preceded in death by her Parents, Larry W. Simpson and Joyce (Ulibarri) Martinez, and her Sister Heather Simpson. Julie is survived by her Husband Richard J. Deffert, Daughters Rebecca Monahan and Brittany R. Deffert, Siblings: Lori Simpson, James Simpson, John Jason Simpson, Cassandra Mondragon, Charles Martinez and Maria Martinez. Grandchildren: Sean Monahan, Eden Monahan and Owen Monahan and her beloved dog Buster. Also, many family and friends. Julie worked the last 16 ½ years at Colorado Housing and Finance Authority where she took great pride in helping others with their dreams of home and business ownership and often said it was her “Dream Job”. Julie was an avid “Metal Head” and could always be found listening to music or reading books. She was the master of useless information and loved to pass that knowledge to everyone. She had a great love for animals so much so that people would say in their next life they wanted to come back as one of Julie’s Dogs. She loved crocheting and often gave blankets as gifts to family as well as the homeless and to battered women’s shelters. She volunteered her time with many organizations around Denver including the Women’s Bean Project and the Samaritan House. She had the biggest heart and would do anything she could for the people and animals around her. Her soft spoken nature and kind heart will be missed by everyone that knew her. Services will be held November 29 th , 2017 at 11 am At St. Paul’s Community Church 8001 W. 23 rd Ave Lakewood, Co 80214 with a Reception to Follow in Church Hall.
