Judith May Rice Erpelding, the daughter of John Robert and Lulu Coyle Amen was born June 3, 1941, in Omaha, Nebraska. Judy graduated from Ault High School in 1959. She grew up on a farm in Ault, Colorado where in teenage years did farm work including driving tractors and trucks. She then went on to attend Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado where she studied accounting. Judy spent her working career in bookkeeping. She retired from WL Contractors in 2002.
Judy enjoyed traveling to various locations for slot fun and visiting friends including Laughlin, Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada. Judy and Jim enjoyed their trips to Cripple Creek, Colorado where she enjoyed feeding the wild burros. In her early years, she enjoyed camping, fishing, and being outdoors.
Judy married James J Erpelding on June 21, 1986, in Northglenn, CO. They made their home in Applewood (Golden), Colorado.
Judy passed away on January 3, 2024, at the age of 82.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Cathrine Gonzales and daughter Debra Kay Rice Kramer (on Christmas Day 2023).
She is survived by: Her husband James J Erpelding, grandson Parker Rice, brother Stephen (Linda) Amen, son-in-law Randy Kramer, stepchildren Stephanie (Corey) Lane and Andrea (Eric) Elkins with grandchildren Taygan and McKayley Lane, Gavin and Taylor Elkins.
Services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Our Lady Fatima Church, 1985 Miller St., Lakewood, CO. Rosary will be said at 11:00, funeral services at 11:30 and a lunch reception to follow.
