Josephine S. Murray

Josephine S. Murray (Jo) left us on February 25, 2017. She was 99 years old. Born on the 4th of July, 1917, the oldest of seven children, she was a caregiver from the beginning, helping her mother with the six younger siblings. Jo married Frank Kotasek in 1941 & they had a son, Joseph. Frank died when Joey was 6 months old. She married Douglas Murray in 1947 & they had 54 happy years together. Dancing was their favorite pastime during the week & on Friday evenings they headed to their cabin near Grand Lake for the weekend. They would fish & water ski in the summer, hunt & ski in the winter. Jo became a licensed practical nurse in 1969 (at age 52) so she would be able to care for her aging parents. Doug died in 2002 & she sold their home & moved to a senior housing apartment, then moved to assisted living. Her only child, Joe, preceded her in death. She is survived by her youngest sister, Jean; 17 nieces & nephews; her 3 grandchildren, Shelley, Dirk & Derek, all of CO; 6 great grandchildren, Tyler, Casey, Deanna, Jessica, Megan, Jade, & 4 great great grandchildren, Piper, Ian, Ava, Rowan and one on the way. Jo was a special person that gave us all so much compassion, fun, help when needed & so many laughs! We will miss our firecracker! Service & reception at Shrine of St. Anne Catholic Church, 7320 Grant Place in Arvada, on Thursday, March 9th at 11:OOam.
