Joe was born in Providence, Rhode Island to a military family. He lived several places with his family until finally settling in San Diego. In the late eighties, he moved to Colorado to join a friend’s band and decided to stay. He met his wife, Darlene, in 1991 and they eventually moved to a home in Arvada, Colorado. He was a master guitar player and had a beautiful voice. He was in many bands over the years and travelled all over the world. He went overseas many times to play for the Department of Defense both in Korea and the Middle East. Joseph Louis Jeffers Jr. is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sr., mother Jessie Pearl, brother Michael and sister Fahari. He is survived by his wife Darlene Armenta of Arvada, CO, brother Adam (Sharifa) Jeffers, sisters Rose (Bob) Glasford, Karama Broach, Vickey Jeffers, brother in law Ken Seaton-Msemaji and many nieces and nephews. Private Services will be held at a later date. “Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the way which you always use. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an internal, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well.” -Unknown
