Joseph A. Gorski, of Arvada, passed away on June 20th, 2016 peacefully at Nightingale Suites at Springwood. He is survived by his children (Karen Huskey and Joe Gorski), six grandchildren (Elaine, Jeffrey, Paul, Jill, Janelle, Jeffery), seven great grandchildren (Taelyn, Maddox, Ashlyn, Preston, Gray, London, Ty) and one sister (Stella Kopera). Joe is preceded in death by his wife (Rea Allene Gorski), his son (John Gorski), two brothers, one sister and his parents. Joe was born on March 17th, 1918 in Toledo, OH, but grew up in Detroit, MI. He stayed there until he joined the US Army Air Corps. in 1939. Joe was a tailgunner in WWII where he completed 31 missions and earned a distinguished flying cross, an air medal with three oak clusters, a victory medal of WWII European, African, Mid-Eastern Campaign, and a good conduct Medal. Before being honorably discharged in 1943, Joe met the love of his life, Rea Allene and married her on September, 12th 1942 in Wichita Falls, TX. Joe and Rea settled in Denver, CO. Joe worked 33 years for Anheuser Busch; he started in the warehouse and worked his way up to Routing Manager for Denver. After retirement and 40 years in Denver, Joe and Rea moved to Mesa, AZ for the next 25 years. Joe then moved back to Arvada, CO where he spent his final years. Joe was an avid golfer, enjoyed RV’ing around the US, listening to music and dancing. He was the oldest Arvada Elk Lodge Charter member; he had been a member since the late 1950’s. If you asked anyone to describe Joe, they would say he was truly the best man they knew. He was very caring, genuine, and always went out of his way to help others. On his 98th birthday, he received a letter of recognition from Senator Laura Woods and a Colorado flag which was flown at the Colorado State Capitol on military appreciation day. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. Here’s to you, Joe! Services will be held on June 30th, 2016. A funeral mass will start at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church located at 12735 West 58th Ave., Arvada, CO. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 12:15 pm located at 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO. The reception will follow the burial. The location is to be determined and will be announced during the services. Flowers can be sent directly to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
