May 23, 1947 - November 13, 2013 66, passed away unexpectedly on November 13, 2013 in Denver, CO. The oldest of three children, John was born to Philip and Betty Lundberg in Chicago, Illinois on May 23, 1947. John is preceded in death by his father, Philip. He is survived by wife of 44 years Linda, his children Josh (Kari) of Golden, Sara (James) of Aurora, and Amanda (James) of Arvada, his grandchildren Berit, Beck, Paige, Lillian, and Rose; his mother Betty, brother Raymond, both of Streator, IL, and sister Janice (Kevin) of Carlock, IL. John spent his childhood in the suburbs of Chicago and met his beloved bride during their high school years in Maywood, IL. John was drafted into the Army and shortly thereafter he and Linda were married. He was stationed as a generator mechanic in Okinawa and Linda was lucky enough to accompany him on that adventure. After his service ended, John and Linda moved back to the states and ended up in colorful Colorado where John was employed by COBE Laboratories for over 25 years. In Colorado, John and Linda raised their three children and were actively involved in their lives. John was constantly participating in the kids' sports and activities - which he thoroughly enjoyed. In fact, he enjoyed being involved so much, that he continued to participate in school activities long after all of his kids had graduated high school. After their three kids were grown, John and Linda settled into grandparenthood. His grandkids were John's favorite. Time with his grandbabies was the highlight of his life. Also at this time, he began a second career as an RTD Access-A-Ride driver, where he made many friends. Throughout his life, John had a love for many things. He loved animals and adopted several during his life. He loved music, and listened to everything from gospel to rock-n-roll to opera. He loved food and frequented many favorite restaurants. He loved to travel; Italy and France were two of his favorite destinations. He loved language and experimented with many. He loved books and was a voracious reader. He loved people and made friends everywhere that he went. But most of all, John loved his family. He would take every spare moment he had to be with his wife, kids, and grandkids. John was an outstanding friend, a wise mentor, a loving husband, a wonderful dad, and an awesome grandpa - he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 7th, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Arvada Center Ballrooms A and B. A reception will immediately follow at the same location until 4 pm. Memorial donations can be made to the Jefferson County Outdoor Lab Foundation (http://outdoorlabfoundation.org/) or the Denver Dumb Friends League (http://ddfl.org/).
