John Michael Mackey, 30, died March 9, 2020 in Wheatridge, CO. He was born on June 13, 1989 in Gillette, WY to Carol Mackey and Brian Mackey. After living in Northern Minnesota, John had been a resident of Colorado since 1993. John attended school at Compass Montessori graduating in 2008. He then attended Red Rocks Community College while working full time. John had many interests and continuously furthered his knowledge base with supplemental courses. He most recently worked as IT support at an internet security company. During his school years John enjoyed spending a great deal of time fishing and riding his 4-wheeler, and camping. His close friends meant a great deal to him and he enjoyed the times they spent together. John was a very generous and compassionate person and never missed an opportunity to help others, even people he did not know. He is survived by his Mother Carol of Arvada CO, his Father Brian of Waxahachie TX, his sister Alex (Ryan) of Arvada, CO, nephew Trent, niece Taryn, his paternal grandmother and many cousins, aunts and uncles. He leaves a big void in the lives of all who knew him closely. He will be deeply missed. We were all very blessed to have John in our lives for 30 years. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Monday March 16 at the Church Ranch Event Center, 10200 Wadsworth Blvd, Westminster, CO 80021 He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Leonard and Dorothy Schell, and by his paternal grandfather John Mackey.
