John Edward Morrison

November 8, 1930 — March 14, 2016

November 8th 1930 - March 14th 2016 John was born in El Paso Texas to Dorothy M. Smith and John E. Morrison. John passed away at Lutheran Hospice on March 14th 2016 peacefully. John dropped out of High School to join the Navy at 17 years old. Of course he had to have his Mom sign the enlistment papers. At a whopping 130 pounds (maybe) he went off to serve his country. He served in the Korean war and was Honorably Discharged. After he was discharged from the Navy he met his future wife who worked with his Mom at Denver General Hospital as a nurses assistant Her name Imogene Walters. He was so nervous the night he proposed he put salt in his coffee and sugar on his steak. He proposed to her parked in front of Berkley Park lake at I-70 and Tennyson. They were married on November 28th 1953. Imogene passed away 2 months before their 50th wedding anniversary. They had two Children together Son-Johnny E. Morrison (passed away in 1984) and Daughter-Barbara A. Morrison He worked at Rocky Flats in Arvada from 1960 until he retired in 1995. He went to night school to finish getting his GED and associates degree in business management. He loved 4 wheeling, camping & photography, but his most favorite Hobby was building “to Scale” War ship models. The USS Constitution took him 3 years to completion. Him and Imogene sold their home when he retired, bought a motor home and traveled the country “Snows birds”. South in the Winter and Colorado in the summer. Branson Mo. And San Antonio Tx. Were there favorite places to visit. He had a Hardy laugh and loved a good joke “He told many” and loved good conversation. He study many things on his own and had a wealth of knowledge that he didn’t mind sharing if asked. He is survived by his Daughter Barbara A. Morrison “Who called him ditto”. Sister Vicki Smith. Nephews Ray, Jim & Bret. Nieces Roberta & Pam. And over 20 Great nieces & Nephews. Uncle John “As known by most of us”, Ditto “to Barb” – You will be missed by all of us!!
