October 18, 1933 - January 27, 2013 Joanne Marie Conte of Arvada passed away January 27, 2013, she was 79 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister. She served in both the United States Army and Air Force. Most recently serving the Air Force as a Morse Code Operator during the Korean Conflict. She moved to Denver in 1961, graduated from Colorado University with honors, Phi Beta Kappa, received her Masters in Political Science in 1998. She served as an Arvada City Councilwoman, in 1986 she organized the S.A.R.A. "Stabilize Arvada Residential Area" program. Joanne was committed to Community Activism. She was an Investigative Reporter for Public Radio, served on the Arvada City Council; taught at the University of Colorado Political Science. She loved watching baseball and racy sports cars. Joanne is survived by her best friend, Sandra Lamb, he sheltie/shepard, Stomley. Joanne will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 2:00pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery with honors provided by the United States Air Force. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Malesich and Shirey Funeral Home Colorado Crematory of Arvada.
