Jo Ann Dunham

October 2, 1939 — September 28, 2016

Jo Ann Dunham was born in Columbus, Ohio, October 2, 1939, and grew up in Evansville, Indiana. She was the only child of Dr. and Mrs. Donald and Carol (Sims) Dunham. Jo Ann died peacefully on September 28th at the Collier Hospice at Lutheran in Lakewood, Colorado. Jo is survived by her loving partner of nearly 40 years, Marlene Hall. Jo Ann will be deeply missed by Marlene, many close friends in Colorado and California, and by her adopted cat Scram. JoAnn graduated from the University of Indiana and worked more than 30 years for Denver Parks and Recreation. She became the Deputy Director before retiring in 1997. For many, Jo Ann was the “social chair” organizing group vacations to Lake Powell as well as golf outings to California and Arizona. Jo Ann was a long time volunteer to the Colorado Women’s Golf Association and served on the board of directors and as the CWGA tournament chair from 2004 – 2009. Jo Ann also served as tournament chair for women’s golf leagues at Englewood and Foothills golf courses. Jo Ann will be remembered for many qualities including her loyalty, strength, courage, intelligence, and directness. She was an outstanding cook and had a mischievous sense of humor. Jo Ann gave joy and happiness to many. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lakewood Heritage Center, Country School, on Tuesday, October 4 at 10:00 am.
