July 28, 1948 - June 5, 2012 63, born on July 28, 1948 in Denver, to James and Gertrude (Boyd) King of Denver, CO. She was called home on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 while at her residence in Denver. Jill attended Loyola Catholic Elementary School and Manual High School in Denver, then Langston University in Oklahoma. Wanderlust took over and she moved to Chicago as a young adult where she worked as a flight attendant for United Airlines. When she left the airlines' employ, she remained in Chicago and went to work for an insurance company. After residing in Chicago, she moved to Los Angeles, where she met and married Conrad Harrell. She and Conrad later moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked for ABC News. In the early 1980's, she returned to Denver where she has remained. Jill was an avid skier, belonging to the Slippers and Sliders and the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS). She was up in the hills every chance she got and attended the annual NBS Summit every year that she could. She was always up for playing a hand or two of Bid Whist. Wherever she was she would try to get a game going. When computers became available to the average person, Jill jumped right in and began to teach herself the basics and took classes to learn some higher level skills. She loved sitting at her computer and seeing what else it could do. She also enjoyed comedy shows and comedians Bill Cosby being one of her all time favorites. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She loved movies and could remember plots and dialogue for years after having seen a movie. And then there was reading. She loved to read and liked to always have a book handy for times she was waiting or sitting doing nothing. She bought an Amazon Kindle so that it was easier to carry books around. She had a Kindle before most other folks knew what it was. That was her “big splurge” had to have it. And, she danced. She danced with a troupe in Chicago and she dabbled in dance in Denver taking classes and practicing with companies. Her favorite word was “fabulous!”. She became caretaker for her mother in her waning years, which helped Jill to understand that caretaking should be her calling. So she became a home health aide in order to provide care for other elderly persons. She did that until God called her home. Left to mourn her passing are: her sister Gloria “Pennie” (Cary) Goodman, her nephews Anthony D. Williams, Charles B. Cunningham and Marcus G. Goodman, her nieces, Bambi R. Williams, Nicole M. Goodman, Rachel R. Goodman, and Cherryll L. Goodman, and her beloved, best friends, Tree King and Karen Parks, as well as a host of great nieces and nephews, family and friends. May the Lord watch between me and thee while we are absent one from another. Amen. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Redeemer located at 2552 Williams Street, Denver, Colorado. Fr. Stephen Wilson will be the Celebrant of Jill's service.
