May 10, 1927 - May 12, 2013 Jewell Francis (Evans) Millard, 86, of Thornton, passed from this life on May 12, 2013 at a local hospice care center. Jewell was born in Joplin, Missouri on May 10, 1927. Jewell was the fifth of thirteen children of Eddie Earl and Eliza Ann Berry Evans. When she was six months old her parents moved out to the Reinmiller community where she grew up on the family farm. She went to school in a one room school house through the eighth grade and graduated from Duenwig High School. She attended the Missouri State University at Springfield, Missouri. She married the late Ora Lee Millard on July 3, 1946 at Columbus, Kansas. They had eight children. She is preceded in death by six brothers, Clarence, Jack, Dudley, Glen, Jerry and Carl; two sisters, Thelma Dotson and Sally Epperson. Her daughter Geraldine Gilmore also precedes her in death. Ora Lee and Jewell moved to Colorado in 1960. She is survived by two sisters and two brothers Vivian Cole, Judy Stirewalt, Harold and Ronnie (Mick) Evans. Seven of her children survive her, Carole Millard of Grand Junction, Barbara Hellberg of Denver, Lester Millard of Baxter Springs, KS, Susan Millard of Vancouver, WA, Doug Millard of Thornton, Helen Millard of Grand Junction, and Lee Millard of Fort Worth, TX. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 11:00 am at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area "A". Arrangements are under the direction of Malesich and Shirey Funeral Home Colorado Crematory of Arvada. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made in her memory to The Denver Hospice.
