Jennifer Ruth Murphy Kerrigan (Arvada, Colorado) passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25th, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Jenny was born February 23, 1972, in Chicago, Illinois to John Daly “Jack” and Judith Bruha Murphy. Jenny was the seventh of nine children and the youngest daughter of the Murphy clan. Jenny had a zest for life and a fantastic sense of humor. She grew up in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Our Lady of the Elms High School in 1990. She went on to attend THE Ohio State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1994. At her brother’s wedding in September 1994, Jenny met the love of her life, James “Seamus” Kerrigan and they were married May 18,1996. They set up house in Arvada, CO where she was adopted fully into the Kerrigan clan with Seamus’ parents, nine siblings and spouses. Jenny and Seamus enjoyed more than 26 years together and loved nothing more than their beautiful children -Jack Begley (1999), Mary Ellen (2001), Super Sarah (2003) and “JB” James Bruha (2005). Jenny was an incredible witness to the Catholic faith and lived her life as such. She was a longtime active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Arvada. Jenny also served as a childcare volunteer for Hope House, an organization which empowers teenage moms to strive for personal and economic self sufficiency. Jenny started her career with Price Waterhouse and enjoyed utilizing her accounting skills for Financial Dimensions, FOCUS ministries and Stonebridge Builders. Most recently Jenny was named Part Owner and Controller at Black Roofing and Waterproofing. Jenny had an incredible work ethic and played as hard as she worked. She was a fierce competitor and loved nothing more than to show off her pickleball prowess for her team “No Game This Week” - the name chosen hoping to confuse their competitors. Jenny had incredible organizational skills and could always be counted on to create an itinerary or to plan a get-together. She organized the annual neighborhood block party and ornament exchange and loved to lead her book club. She accompanied her ski-loving family on ski trips but usually sacrificed time on the slopes to keep the fire going, often with a good book at her side. Jenny was an exceptional wife and mother, a phenomenal daughter and sister, and a great friend and confidante. Jenny was preceded in death by her father, Jack Murphy, brothers Timothy and John Murphy, father-in-law, Jim Kerrigan and sister-in-law Tara Marie Kerrigan. She is survived by her beloved husband, Seamus; her children who were the lights of her life, Jack, Mary Ellen, Sarah and JB; her mother, Judith Murphy; her siblings, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Our hearts are broken that she left us too soon, but we take solace in the knowledge that she rests in God’s arms now and will always be with us in spirit. Special thanks to all the staff at Lutheran Medical Center who cared for Jenny over the last three weeks, and especially to her “night nurse” Mary Ellen who spent every night at her side caring for her. In memory of Jenny, hug your loved ones tight, don’t hold a grudge, and live your faith – our time here is fleeting. A Rosary service will take place on Wednesday, May 11th at 7 p.m. and the Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 12th at 10:30 a.m., both at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Arvada. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Jenny’s name to: Hope House Colorado, 6475 Benton Street Bldg A, Arvada CO 80003 or at Donate to Hope House | Hope House Colorado .
