James Wayne Shellhorn

April 13, 1961 — December 21, 2020

Jim Shellhorn, passed away peacefully at his home on December 21st due to cancer. He was known best for his hard work, craftsmanship, witty humor, and good looks. Originally from Florida, he moved to Colorado in the early 1970's. Starting off working at Coors and McDonald's, he went on to become a handyman, mechanic, auto body specialist, locksmith, electrician, plumber, landscaper, painter, etc... The list goes on and on. It seems like there wasn't a job he couldn't do. Always willing to try new things and always impressing everyone with his creativity, skill and insane work ethic. All of his work will be remembered for years to come. He instilled this work ethic in his children by teaching them the value of hard work and passing down his knowledge to them. His hobbies included, playing golf, football, poker, pool and video games. He also enjoyed skiing, traveling, building things and jet skiing. He was a fun guy to be around and was the life of the party. He always had the coolest Halloween costumes and went above and beyond for Christmas. He would regularly take his kids to amusement parks, movies and sports games. He also loved animals and had many cats throughout his life. He loved home cooked meals and was very fond of snacking. He married his wife, Karen Petrafeso, in 1995 at The Ponderosa Ranch off of the TV show Bonanza. It was the perfect location because he always reminded her of Michael Landon (who played Little Joe) and Jim knew it was her favorite TV show. They were married for 25 years but have been together since 1987. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Howard and Marilyn, and his brothers, Larry and Tom. His life was filled with people who loved him and will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Karen, his daughter, Shelly, and his sons, Kalon and Justin. He is also survived by his brothers, Ron and Dan, and his sister, Marge and their families. You will remain in our hearts forever, Rest In Peace, Jim.
