December 24, 1938 - August 23, 2013 James L. "Jim" Schmieding, Sr. of Broomfield passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at a local hospital, he was 74 years old. He was born December 24, 1938 at Beatrice, Nebraska to the late Herman Ernst Gertrude Ann Schmieding. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, Nebraska. In 1961 he graduated from North Dakota School of Forestry with an Associate of Science Degree in Forestry. In 1964 he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, from the University of Wyoming. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Lee Freer Schmieding; his four children, Deborah Schmieding, James L. Schmieding, Jr., Brandon Schmieding, and Jayme L. Schmieding; his granddaughter, Annabelle Schmieding; brother sister-in-law, John Sue Schmieding; sisters, Ruth Parker and Mary Ann Steinbeck; his beloved dog Rocky and cats, Wacko, Dot, Tux. Jim will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
