James C. Lobenstein

July 12, 1958 — November 27, 2015

James C. Lobenstein, passed away on November 27th., 2015 after a life of love happiness and adventure. He wasn't on this earth nearly long enough but he lived many, many lives, all of them good. He was a businessman, a voracious reader, a collector, a chef, a comedian, a friend, a father, a brother, the list could go on and on. He could quiet a room just by walking into it and could talk to anyone about anything. Gifted with a sharp financial sense and indefatigable courage, he bought a popcorn cart in his early teens and a bowling alley while still in college on a whim, he packed his Saint Bernard into his canary yellow Jeep Chief Cherokee and moved to Colorado. He arrived in Denver without an apartment and without a job; five years later he started American Eagle Mortgage. He was an avid skier and golfer, notoriously hitting the slopes in shorts in the dead of winter. He could cook most anything and delighted in entertaining his friends and family. He collected nutcrackers, pressed pennies, and cars. He drove those cars around the world, taking his daughter to every corner of the United States before she was out of elementary school. Jim was President of the Rocky Mountain Region Rolls Royce Club, President of the Colorado National Association of Mortgage Brokers, served on both the Board of Directors of the Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association and the National Board of the RROC Modern Car Society, as well as an Accredited Judge for the Classic Car Club of America. He accomplished much and was loved by many. There is so much more that could be said about a man who delighted in life and all those around him. His life could have been a novel and he often thought about writing one. He is beloved and missed by so very many. Service and reception May 18th at 10 am., at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Arvada.
