James Brian Parks

July 20, 1967 — December 20, 2023

James Brian Parks, age 56, of Commerce City Colorado, passed away on Wednesday December 20th, 2023, in his home after a brave battle with two types of cancer. Born in Pierre South Dakota, Jim grew up with a love of the Missouri river and spent much of his childhood fishing with his many friends and working on cars. After graduating high school in 1985 he went on to get an Associate of Applied Science/Computer Aided Drafting degree from Western Dakota Technical Institute. He was proud to become a father then moved to Colorado. During his career he originally drafted homes using Auto CADD, and progressed into designing solar for new residential homes. A lifelong NASCAR fan, Jim was a local car owner/builder, and loved by the racing community.


Jim is survived by his wife of 12 years, Terri Parks; children Elizabeth Parks, Morgan Skow, Thomas Godin; grandchildren Kaiden Skow, Khloe Cowell, Dean Godin; mother Marval Fairbanks; father Duane Parks and stepmom Donna Sasso-Parks; mother in law Sandra Beach; stepsister Christina Campbell; brothers Damon Parks, Burt Parks and mother Donna, stepbrother Johnny Fairbanks and father Larry; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.


A Celebration of Life will be held for relatives and friends from 11am-3pm on Monday January 15th at The Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park located at 26626 N Turkey Creek Rd, Evergreen, CO 80439, and catered by La Casa del Rey. Honoring Jim with denim and racing attire highly encouraged, but not required.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
