December 27, 1953 – February 4, 2015 Francisco, to his friends, passed away on Wed Feb 4th at Collier Hospice after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Ipiales, Nariño, Colombia on December 27th 1953 to parents Enrique and Martha Elisa (Medina) Morales. He was raised in Pasto, Colombia. He is preceded in death by his mother Martha Medina de Morales. He is survived by his wife Victoria L (Miller), his brother-in-law Christopher R (Sheila) Miller, his father Enrique, his sisters Gloria, Myrian, Maria Isabel and Martha and his brothers Jaime, Edgar, Jorge and Ricardo, and many nieces and nephews. As a young man, he studied typewriter repair at Olivetti in Bogota. After working in that field for a while in Colombia, he immigrated to Mexico where he studied part time and worked part time for about a year. He then came to the US in 1979 where he met his wife Vicky; they married on Oct 26, 1980. He worked as a typewriter and office machine repairman, primarily at Cook Business Machines, for a few years. He started his own business called Boulder Office Machines and later managed a branch of the Tech Center (a computer repair business) in Fort Collins. After earning an Associate’s Degree as an Electronic Technician, from Front Range Community College, he worked as a copier field tech, most notably for IKON Office Solutions. Wanting to broaden his skill set, he earned a certificate as a machinist/tool maker and took HVAC classes at Vo-tech in Boulder. He spent a few years in building maintenance working for Ramada and Dencol Real Estate. His first love however, was electronics, so he returned to copier repair and other forms of electronic manufacturing while he attended Metropolitan State College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE). His favorite job was at iTi (imaging Technology international) where they developed and built large custom industrial printers. Throughout the years he worked part time at Radio Shack so that he could send money to his family and help his brother Jaime earn a degree in civil engineering. Francisco was a giving person to his family and friends. He was an avid runner, participating in many races, biathlons (biking/running), and a half marathon. On Memorial Day 2014, he ran his 25th consecutive Bolder Boulder and shaved 6 minutes from his 2013 time. Francisco and his Vicky loved to travel; they visited many of the major cities of the US, did lots of camping in Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico and once viewed a Space Shuttle launch while visiting Kennedy Space Center. A Memorial/Open House will be held on February 15th, 2015 at the Depot at Five Parks, 13810 W 85th Drive, Arvada, CO 80005, from 2:00PM to 4:30PM
