March 30, 1924 - October 29, 2012 HARRY LEWIS, 88 Harry Reese Lewis, 88, of Longmont, Colorado died 9:30 AM, Monday, October 29, 2012 at Longmont United Hospital. Harry was born March 30, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA to Howell and Gladys Lewis (West). He married Caroline Przybycien on February 16, 1946. Surviving are his daughter Janet Koopsen of Hamilton, WA, his son Harry (Loretta) Lewis of Longmont, three grandsons, Mark Koopsen of Sedro Wooley, WA, Brian Koopsen of Concrete WA, and Matthew (Kathy) Lewis of London, UK, one brother Norman Lewis of Millville, NJ and 3 sisters, Gladys Pierson of Deptford, NJ, Mary Pierson of Deptford and Doris (Jim) Charlesworth of Sicklerville, NJ in addition to nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death are his wife, Caroline, daughter Carol Lewis and sister Edith DeWitt. Harry graduated from Woodbury High School. At the age of 18, he entered the Army 34th Infantry, 168 Regiment, Company B, “Red Bulls” where he served for the duration of WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Harry worked at John A Roebling's Sons, RCA and, in 1988 he culminated a 35 year career with Rheem Manufacturing as Plant Manager - Chicago. Harry was a longtime resident of Oak Forest, IL and also lived in Baltimore, Kalamazoo and Fort Smith during his career. He was a devoted husband and father, provider to family, community supporter and friend to many neighbors and co-workers. With his positive nature, good humor and generous manner he made a difference in many people's lives. Harry enjoyed traveling, visiting family and golf. Visitation is from 10:00 to 11:00 am followed by a funeral service on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Boucher Funeral Home in Deptford NJ. Burial, with military honors, will be alongside his wife at Green Cemetery, Deptford Township, NJ.
