Harold "Hal" E. Gloystein

October 20, 1929 — August 15, 2017

Harold Eugene Gloystein Hal was born October 20, 1929 in Utica Nebraska, to Fred and Johanna Gloystein. He was baptized November 10, 1929 and confirmed on April 18, 1943 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Utica, Nebraska. He attended primary school in a small country school and graduated from Utica High School May 20, 1947. He attended the University of Nebraska, was an active member of Beta Sigma Psi Fraternity, graduating in 1951 with a B.S degree. He met Geraldine Dreyer in Seward, Nebraska in 1951 They were married by her father, Pastor Dreyer, on July 6, 1952 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Nebraska. During their honeymoon in Colorado they decided that was where they hoped to spend their life together. Both Hal and Geri were able to find new positions of their chosen careers and moved to Lakewood, Colorado seven weeks later. January of 1957 they adopted their first daughter Dixilyn Kay from Lutheran Family Services. Tamilyn Jo joined the family in June 1959 and their final adoption of Heidi-Lyn Rae took place December 1962. They raised their family in Arvada, CO. Hal's entire career was spent in the Life Insurance Industry where he achieved several industry recognitions. Dedicating the last 24 years of his career to Aid Association for Lutherans (now Thrivent), he retired in 1984. He was self motivated and disciplined, diligent, honest, dependable and faithful not only in his career but in all phases of his life. He began each day reciting the bible verse " This is the day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it" He fought passionately for all things he believed in but there was little time for negativity as he lived each and every day with a positive and grateful outlook. Hal was a man of many interest but his greatest passion was sharing his immense love for music! Beginning at the age of 13, he served as the organist for many churches over the course of 70 plus years. 50 of those years as the organist for Peace Lutheran Church. He also provided music for weddings, receptions, funerals and other events. He enjoyed singing as a member of church choirs and quartets, and accompanied a musical group of retired individuals, performing for many organizations around the Denver area. Throughout his life, especially in his retirement, he served on many church, insurance, hospital and civic boards. He volunteered for numerous organizations and regularly entertained for 6 senior homes, as well as Lutheran Medical Center. Hal is survived by his wife, Geri; daughters - Dixi Gloystein; Heidi and husband, David Dardano; Grandchildren - Luke and wife, Katie Gloystein; Ryan and wife, Amber Dardano; Brittany Dardano and Dillon Dardano; Great-grandchildren - Aspen and Jackson Dardano; brother - Floyd and wife, Virginia; sister-in-law, Elanie Gloystein. Hal was proceeded in death by his daughter, Tami; his parents; brothers - Elroy; Kenny and wife, Edee. Contributions in Hal's memory may be sent to Lutheran Family Services, 363 S.
