May 27, 1948 - September 24, 2011 Guy passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at the age of 63. He was a resident of Evergreen, CO for 14 years. Guy was predeceased by his parents Guy J. Maggio and Shirley (Smith) Maggio; his brother Charlie Joseph, and his sister-in-law Alice Payne. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Karen; and his mother-in-law Dorothy Butler of Kansas City; his sisters Loretta (Don) Cawelti and Patricia (Don) Coleman; brothers-in-law Harold Payne and Berle Landow; nephews and nieces (and theier families Ray Payne, Sherri Gomez, Bill Landow, Kalen Landow, Loren Landow, Eric Aschen, Kimberly Strawn, Melinda Coleman; and goddaughter Taylor Landow. Guy was a writer who co-authored "One Step Below the Angels" with Diane Whigham and which was published in 2000; a historical fiction novel about Wyoming in the 1890s. Guy was raised in an Italian family and was an exceptional cook known for making hundreds of meatballs and sauce, and being raised in Kansas City could enjoy barbeque for any meal! He loved music, especially classical; he was a film buff extraordinaire, especially those movies made before 1970. Because of his father's love of movies, he knew many of the supoprting actors in many old movies. His favorite movie was "To Kill a Mockingbird" and he could recite every line. Guy could watch the classics over and over, and he did so. Another of his many interests was animals. One of his cats, Lucy, preceded him in death; he is survived by his other cats, Sophie Rudy. In recent years, Guy enjoyed RVing with friends Marty and Lisa. Among his favorite places were Mt. Rushmore, Santa Fe, and Yellowstone. Services for Guy will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver (with military honors) on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at 1:15 area "C". In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
