March 9, 1936 - September 24, 2011 Guenther was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and best friend. He was born in Dortmund, West Germany March 9, 1936 to Wilhelm and Gertrude Tomek. He grew up in Dortmund where he was an altar boy. And he enjoyed playing the piano and took voice lessons. He completed his degree in Tool Design Engineering. He was adventurous and at one point rode his bicycle across Germany with his best friend Hans Sander. When he wanted better opportunity he traveled to Canada. And a year later his friend Hans met him in Canada where he still lives with his Canadian wife Beth. He couldn't speak English and had to do odd jobs until he could learn the language and work his trade. He rented a room in a rooming house and fished every weekend, bringing the fish home for everyone. He brought so much fish home that the landlord told him not to bring home any more. When in Canada, he was in the Canadian male choir. He then went to California. His friend, Otto, was friends with Patsy in California. Otto described Guenther to Patsy and she fell in love with his description. Patsy went along with Otto to pick up Guenther at the airport. She picked him out of the crowd right away. Guenther and Patsy were married ten months later on November 21, 1963. Guenther and Patsy came to Colorado in 1967 where he worked as a Tool Design Engineer for Samsonite Corporation for 20 years. Guenther was a good husband who was always there for his wife Patsy, his two children, Duane Maurice Tomek and Diana Christine Ruibal (Charles Daniel Ruibal), and three grandchildren, Cierra Marie Ruibal, Alexander Charles Ruibal and Dominic Paul Ruibal. He is also survived by his sister Waltraud Retting of Germany. He will be missed. But even though his life on earth is at an end, he will live on in the Lord's Kingdom happy and in good health. Guenther will be in our hearts forever. Services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011, 10:30 A.M. at the Abundant Life Community Church, 7100 Wadsworth Boulevard, Arvada, Colorado.
