George Robert Mcgeary

George Robert McGeary August 27, 1946 – January 28, 2021 George R McGeary, 74, passed away quietly on January 28, 2021 with his wife and daughter by his side. He was a proud Colorado native who spent the majority of his life in the Denver area. He was an enthusiastic member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. In the colder months, he enjoyed spending time in San Carlos, Mexico at the winter home of his parents. George was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1964 where he was a member of the swim team. He earned a BA in Economics at Adams State College in 1968. After graduation, George joined the US Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After a few years as a telephone equipment salesman in New York, George joined New York Life Insurance company as an insurance agent in 1975 out of Denver. He enjoyed this career and retired in 2016. George was preceded by his parents, Fred and Hazel McGeary of Denver, CO and niece, Lisa McGeary of Zambia, Africa. He is survived by his wife, Judy Baird of Aurora, CO, daughter, Katie McGeary of Saugus, MA, step-children Sharon Mills and husband Jon and family, Teri Burget and husband Sam and family, and John Baird of CO, brother, Roger McGeary and wife Jan of TX, nephew, Timothy McGeary and wife Kandi and family of TN, as well as cousin Bob McGeary and wife Shirley and family of KS.
