December 17, 1949 - January 9, 2013 Gene Alfred Castellari, 63, of Arvada, Colorado passed away January 9, 2013. He was born in Peru, Illinois on December 17, 1949 to Alphonse Castellari and Helen Banko. Gene was married to Kathleen Spears on April 24, 1971. Gene worked for Ground Engineering over 20 years, constructing some of Colorado's most recognizable infrastructure. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed initiating fantasy football leagues with his coworkers and family. A gentle man, Gene relished Colorado's abundant wildlife and beautiful landscapes. However, his heart belonged to Italy. Thankfully, in the fall of 2007, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by traveling to the mountains of northern Italy to explore his heritage. Above all though, Gene treasured his time with family. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; children Stephen (Longchau) Castellari, Andrea (Jon) Fitzgerald, and Aaron (Amanda West) Castellari; grandchildren Maya and Danchau; and mother, Helen Samolinski. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11:30 AM in the stone Prayer Chapel at Faith Bible Chapel, 6250 Wright Street in Arvada, Colorado. A viewing will precede the service at 11:00 AM and a reception will follow at approximately 12:15 PM. A memorial service will also be held in Peru, Illinois on February 2, 2013 for his childhood friends and family.
