Fredona "Jo" Jeffries

April 5, 1924 – November 22, 2015 Fredona Jo was born April 5, 1924 in Spickard, Missouri to Guy and Ruth Minshall. Jo was named Fredona after her Grandfather offered to pay her father $25 for the name. She was the oldest of three children and was preceded in death by her brother John Minshall in 2001 and Arnold Minshall in 2004. Jo and her family moved to Denver, CO around 1930. After the initial move to Denver there were numerous moves back and forth between Quincy, Illinois and Denver. She graduated from Wheat Ridge High school in 1942 and went on to attend Kansas City College and Bible School. After graduation Jo worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Colorado for several years. In 1950 she married Kenneth Jeffries in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. After Ken was drafted into the Army, they were stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. It was there they became involved in the growth of the local Nazarene church. That was the beginning of their lifetime relationship with the Nazarene church. On their return to Denver from Alaska, two daughters were born, Sherri in 1956 and Janell in 1959. As the girls got a little older Jo was employed by Stanley Home products for several years in addition to being a stay-at-home mom. Jo continued her education by obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood in 1984 and taught at Abundant Life Christian Center and Maranatha Christian Center. She later became a teacher and Administrator of A Child’s Reflection in Arvada, a position that she retained until her retirement in 2010, at the age of 86. Jo’s greatest pleasures during her retirement years were her family. She is survived by daughter Sherri Zaroban and her husband Larry, grandson, Jeremiah Zaroban (Amber), granddaughter Heidi Duran (Chris), and great grandson, Jace Duran; daughter Janell Bird, her husband Richard, granddaughters Heather Conley (Jason) and Monique Graham (Jason), and numerous nieces and nephews. Jo passed away November 22, 2015 after a brief illness Visitation 5-7 PM Friday, November 27, 2015. Funeral Service 10:30 AM Saturday, November 28, 2015.
