Frances Irene Chapin

Frances Irene Chapin, 79, died December 23, 2015, at the Arvada Care and Rehab Center. Frances was born on November 5, 1936, in Iola, Kansas. She was the first of nine children born to John and Gladie Brooks. On May 29, 1954, she was united in marriage with Gene Chapin. After raising three sons, Frances earned a Masters Degree in Special Education at Fort Hays State University, graduating in 1986. She taught for several years in Concordia, Kansas, before moving to Arvada and teaching in the Jefferson County School District for the remainder of her career, retiring in 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Myrle Brooks. Left to treasure her memory are three sons: Rick Chapin and wife Kay of Lebanon, Kansas, Randy Chapin and wife Kathy of Grover, Colorado, and Rob Chapin and wife Jeannie of Longmont, Colorado. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Tera Chapin Harm, Lindy {Derek)Feldmann, Melissa {DJ) O'Neal, Ashley(Rustin)Konig, Lucas Gene Chapin, Cole Michael Chapin, and Mason Robert Chapin, Six great grandchildren: Alex Harm, Haley Feldmann, Jacoby Feldmann, Sophie O'Neal, Gus Konig, and Jaxon O'Neal, Four step grandchildren, Nikki (Charles) Fern-Veal, Cody {Amber) Fern, Kelsey Thomsen, and Christina Thomsen, Five step great-grandchildren, Braxton Veal, Charles Veal, Cameron Fern, Carter Fern, and Braddie Fern, Three brothers: Mervin Brooks, Cecil Brooks, and Robert Brooks, four sisters: Phyllis Price, Esther Terrill, Ruby Boswell, and Linda Hogan, and many other relatives and close friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 30 at 10 AM at the Chapel of the Good Samaritan, Lutheran Medical Center, 8300 w. 38th Ave, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
