Forest Eugene (Gene) Hollingsworth, 90, was born December 17th, 1929 In Woodrow Colorado to Linly E. & Cecil D. (Gilbert) Hollingsworth. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday May 14th 2020 at 5:35pm at his home in Byers, CO surrounded by loved ones. There are no planned services at this time. There will be a memorial and celebration of life/jam session on July 4th 2020 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church at 10:00am. Gene was the 2nd son out of 4 boys of Linly and Cecil Hollingsworth,and grew up in a sod house that his grandfather built 22 miles east of Deer Trail, CO He farmed and ranched with his family raising crops, sheep, and running a small dairy. His Dad and brothers milked around 100 cows twice a day by hand until they acquired a milking machine in the 1960's. Gene grew up playing music with his fiddle playing Dad and very talented brothers. They all used to play for Grange Hall dances and many other places in and around eastern Colorado. He was a very accomplished harmonica, tenor banjo and mandolin player. He and his brothers broke horses and they used to rodeo in Deer Trail. Gene was also a very devout Christian man and loved to share his faith with people urging them to confess Jesus as Lord! He was a very loving and generous man and would help people he didn't even know. He was the hardest working man and always putting others needs above his own. He was a great family man and was married to his loving wife Nancy for 61 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother Howard and younger brother Glen. He is survived by his wife Nancy, brother Arnold Hollingsworth & wife Louise, daughter Sheri and her husband Lindsey, son Keith and wife Tina, daughter Vicki and husband Joe, and son Ward and wife Melissa, 13 grandchildren, 21 Great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, along with numerous nephews and nieces.
