July 26, 1924 - October 18, 2013 (Francis) Ann Hueftle, nee Dahn, died of cancer after a 2 year battle on October 18, 2013 in Broomfield Colorado. She was 89. Ann was born July 26th, 1924 in Columbus Indiana, where she attended St Bartholomew's Catholic School Columbus High School until 1942. She earned her R.N. at St Vincents Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She moved to Denver around 1948 where she met and married Gilbert Willis Hueftle. She worked as a nurse throughout her life, including nearly 7 years where she nursed her husband Gib in-home after a stroke (in Norfolk NE). Ann Gib had their 6 children in Boulder and Denver Colorado, They moved to Glenwood Springs CO in 1969 and to Norfolk NE in 1973. Ann moved to Broomfield CO in 2006 to be closer to family. Ann loved life, people and the natural outdoors. She enjoyed trips to the mountains until a week before her death. Words such as jolly, humorous, witty, forgiving and loving describe her attitude of life. She was the glue that bridged families and she will be sorely missed. She volunteered for hospice the blood bank. She is survived by her sister Mart DeClue of Columbus IN; her 6 children: James (Karen) Hueftle of Butte MT, Bradley Hueftle of Albuquerque NM, Karen Hueftle-Worley (Byron) of Grinnell IA, Kent Hueftle of Westminster CO, Susan Hueftle of Flagstaff AZ, and John Hueftle (Kris Larsen), and granddaughters Kristin Hueftle Johnson, Kimberly Hueftle, and Brooke Hueftle; as well as many unofficially adopted children, grandkittens and puppies. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Gib; by her parents J. Carl and Doris Dahn of Columbus IN, and by her brothers John, William, and Thomas Dahn. Ann will be cremated. A memorial service will be at Highland Trail on 136th Ave Sheridan in Broomfield CO on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 2 pm. A second memorial will take place in the summer of 2014. Ann requested donations be directed to The Hope Foundation for cancer trials (hopefoundation.org), Colorado flood relief at ColoradoRedCross.org, or Environmental Defense Fund (800-684-3322).
