In loving memory of Eva Maria Takacs, born 5-14-1935, died of heart failure on 3-23-2022 and her beloved husband, Ferenc (Frank) Takacs, born 01-24-1934, died from late effects of stroke on 9-5-2018. Both died at Bethany Nursing Home in Lakewood, CO. They met as art students in Hungary and left after the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and married in Vienna on 12-20-1956 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. They were sponsored to immigrate to the USA and settled in Denver in 1957. Preceded in death by their son Ferenc (Frank) J. Takacs (1957-1984). Eva continued to pursue her artistic talents as a Display and Floor Designer for Joslin’s Department Stores in Denver and then as a freelance artist painting landscapes and portraits with a Western Art Theme. Ferenc had various careers before settling in the food industry making ice cream for Safeway Inc. where he retired in 1999. He played soccer for the Hungarian Club team in Denver and was an avid gardener. The whole family, Feri, Eva and their son Frank took an active interest in raising and showing Alaskan Huskies one of which became a A.K.A. (American Kennel Association) Champion, Stormy and later in their lives they raised and rescued dogs left at shelters. Eva is survived by her nephew, Alex Kishonti of Budapest, Hungary and her godson, Janos Zanyi of San Rafael, CA.
A Celebration of Life, Memorial Mass and Service will be held at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Lakewood, CO on the corner of Florida and Garrison St. at 11:00 am on Monday, July 17, 2023. Reception to follow immediately afterwards at the church.
Donations in their honor can be made to the Denver Dumb Friends League per Eva’s wishes.
The burial service will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery to be announced at a later time. As their care at Bethany exhausted all their financial resources, there are no funds available for burial services. Donations in their honor for their burial costs can be made to Janos Zanyi.
