EUGENE LEROY “SMOKE” SORENSEN Eugene Leroy Sorensen of Arvada, Colorado entered into eternity on July 9, 2018, at Collier Hospice—Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge Colorado at 88 years old. He was born on July 8, 1930 in Canton, South Dakota to Peter and Jenny (Larsen) Sorensen. He was the youngest of 4 children, Fern, Florence, and Peter, all deceased. He married Ruth LuAnn Tresler (deceased, 2002) in June 1950 in Canton. Surviving children are Bruce [Deb] Sorensen, Castle Rock CO; Kim D’Andrea, Arvada CO; Jon [Sharon] Sorensen, Arvada CO; and Randy Sorensen, Englewood CO. Grandchildren are Bradley [Amber], Nathan [Haley], Isaac, & Timothy Sorensen; Michael, Wesley, and Nicole D’Andrea (Missouri); Elisabeth (Sorensen) Binkley (Texas), & Philip & Hanan Sorensen; and great-grandsons Ely (Missouri) & Gage (Arizona). He is also survived by niece Randi [Steve] (Rhead) Fodness (South Dakota), and nephews Rod and Kevin Rhead (South Dakota), Paul Rhead (Arizona), along with many nieces and nephews. Gene served in the South Dakota National Guard, Army Air Corps, and United States Marine Corps. His occupations included US Postal Service, Lease Title Specialist, and Certified Petroleum Landman. He was a member of the Elks Club, and the American Association of Petroleum Landmen. He places of residence included South Dakota, California, Colorado, Wyoming and Oklahoma. He was an avid fan of the Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals Graveside service will be held Wednesday July 18th, 2018 at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. Staging area “C”
