November 10, 1916 - October 19, 2012 Emma crossed over peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, holding the thoughts and prayers of those who loved her, and in the ever present company of her angels. Emma was born in Padang, Indonesia to Karl and Okemi Doring. Moved to Holland, married, and then moved to the United States in 1960. Emma's hobbies were gardening, walking everyday for exercise, and all things beautiful. She especially loved walking by the sea. Emma had the gift of great humility, kindness, and the ability to make every day and everyone around her feel special. She loved spending time with her family and her dear companions, Bandit, Boefie, and Clara. Emma found solace in her faith and comfort in prayer, and a strong belief in God's goodness and mercy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Meint; her loving son, Charlie. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Astrid Sorensen and Helena Mulder, who lovingly and tirelessly took care of her. She is survived by her devoted son, Jos de Koning; her granddaughters, "little poppedjin," Anje Jade Sorensen, and Heather de Koning Foley; grandson, Tim Holtermann; great granddaughters, Christina and Katerina; and her beloved brother, Otto Doring. Emma leaves behind a legacy of love and grace, forever in the hearts of many. The family will have a celebration of her life at a later date.
