Elova Lou Miller

October 5, 1931 — June 29, 2017

Elova L. Miller, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died on June 29, 2017. She lived a rich, full life filled with wonders of the world and great joy. She was born to Emory and Elva (Scherer) Moad in Elk City, Oklahoma. Growing up in Cisco, Texas, she played the trumpet and the coronet in her high school band and was so good that she was offered music scholarships to several different universities. She chose to attend Texas Christian University, from which she graduated with a BA in Nursing. She was married, first, to Norman D. Lowry, and then to John A. Miller and raised a terrific, and ever expanding, family in Arvada, Colorado. She would sit and read stories to her children, and, as time moved along, to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, passing the delight of continuous learning to them all. Always busy and engaged in life, she shared her passion for gardening, talent for cooking delicious foods, and endless joy with everyone she knew, her family and her friends. A fun dynamo to shop with for all special moments, Elova also had a terrific zest for holiday meals, especially Christmas dinner. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were always given her vast and unconditional love. She will be terribly missed, and we are thankful for the strength that she passed to us during her amazing life. A private memorial will be held shortly, and at a later date her ashes will be interred with her mother and her sister, back in Cisco, Texas. Donations may be made, in her name, or in any way, to the Alzheimer’s Association (http://www.alz.org).
