September 28, 1939 - March 17, 2014 Ellen Katherine Witherspoon, 74, of Arvada, Colorado passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 at The Peaks/ Tru Hospice Care Center. She fought Pancreatic Cancer with a vengeance. She was born to the parents of Mr.and Mrs. Clyde and Geraldine Witherspoon of Foirmount, Illinois. Survived by a sister, Sarah Witherspoon Dickey, brother, John F. Witherspoon, many nieces and nephews, best friend Kate dog and longtime friend Francin Sturgis. Preceded by three siblings, Larence, William and Robert Witherspoon. Her love of the outdoors brought her to Colorado where she enjoyed camping, hiking, and boating. She had a soft heart for all people and dogs. A great listener, gentle and courageous. Ellen enjoyed her experiences in the profession of Education, while working at Kaneland Junior-Senior High School in Maple Park, Illinois, Forest View High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Adams Junior High, Kearney Middle School and Adams City High School, Commerce City, Colorado. Ellen received her Bachelor of Science in Education at Eastern Illinois, graduated from Northern Illinois University with her Masters of Science in Education and Master of Science in Counseling, received her Administration in Education from University of Northern Colorado. She was a volunteer teacher for City of Westminster program of "Speak English".
