March 27, 1926 - July 14, 2011 My garden was barren and without beauty, untended full of weeds and rocks. One special day a Beautiful woman came into my life, Her name was Betty, She was the most wonderful thing that ever came into my life. Without saying a word she began to cultivate me and my garden. With her wisdom and love she quietly began sowing seeds of new life for me. She again quietly pulled a few weeds at a time (so I would not notice)and moved the heavy rocks of life away. She again quietly began cultivating my little rock pile I called my garden. And again quietly she began planting bright beautiful little flowers, and as she new, again, I would not notice. My garden began to change, as usual she new that these little changes that were taking place would not be noticed. (Again, she was right as usual). As the years came and went my garden flourished (not by my hand) by her tenderness and love. My garden saw stormy weather that should have destroyed everything in it's path, but Betty calmly went about her usual way and restored everything to it's beauty. Betty now was ready for me to notice her handiwork, and by taking my hand in hers she took me outside. My garden was finished and ready for me to notice. She said this is our garden now, and we should pull the till together. What she was telling me was to have a beautiful garden you have to notice what life is all about. Life is not just about work and objects you may ontain; life is sharing love, appreciation, fellowship and family. Well now, that was a new approach for me!! You see I was just a fellow in love with my Betty and could see no further. She taught me how to see all the good in the world, not just the bad and ugly things that are in the headlines of the daily paper. She said there is good in everything, but sometimes you had to look past your prejudices and first impressions of people, then and only then could you see the good. My garden now has five beautiful roses, one for Duchess, Cotton, Missy, Puffy and Whiskers. These names are for the wonderful kitty that have been in Bettys' and my life, Betty said each cat had their own identity now. SO!! My garden is now a memorial to those wonderful little critters. You may wonder where all this is leading too. Well, I'm going to tell ya!!! You see, Betty in her wonderful wisdom, love and caring, put everything in our lives into that wonderful garden. She molded every part of her being into it, and in the molding process she molded and wove me into it with her!! Betty loved life to the fullest. Oh, by the waythis is no longer my garden, I am proud to say it is BETTTY'S GARDEN!!! Humbled by her work, I will try to honor all of her efforts. Betty was a great teacher of life. When she was at Wheat Ridge High School, she listened to all the kids. She listened before talking , and no concern by the kids was ever trivial to her. She became "Hall Mom". So you see, Betty was planting good seeds of life everywhere she went. I feel sorry for those who were not blessed by not meeting and talking with Betty, because of this, they will never know what made BETTY'S GARDEN GROW!!!
