August 4, 1926 - June 9, 2014 Nyhus, Dr. Ralph Ekle August 4, 1926 -June 9, 2014 Ralph Ekle Nyhus was born in St. Paul, MN to Anne and Ralph Nyhus on Aug. 4, 1926. He graduated from the University of MN with B.A., B.S., and MD degrees. He completed a fellowship in Pediatrics a the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Nyhus practiced Pediatrics in the Cherry Creek area for over 40 years. He enjoyed teaching residents and inters at Children's Hospital and was an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado. Ralph was married for fifty-three years to Catherine Schwerin Nyhus. They have two children, Gregory and Nancy and two grandsons, Andrew and David. Ralphs active military service was in the U.S. Navy in World War II, and as a captain in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Denver Clinical and Pathological Society and the Denver Medical Club. Dr. Nyhus enjoyed skiing, sailing, tennis, bridge, scuba diving and travel. He was a kind, loving, humble and most gentle of men. Memorial Services will be held Monday, June 23, at 11 am at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E. Alameda Ave., Denver, CO 80246-reception to follow. If desired, gifts may be made in Ralph's name to: Lutheran Family Services, 1800 Downing St, Denver 80218 or Augustana Foundation.
