Doug was born in Leadville, Colorado on October 14, 1948, and joined the Air Force in 1970 serving his Country during the Vietnam War. As part of his service with the Air Force, he served as Military Police until he began a 25-year career as a Police Officer in Leadville, CO and Deputy Sherriff in Sacramento, California. In 2003, Doug retired from the Sherriff’s Office and moved to Mack, Colorado where he lived until 2012 when he moved to Denver, Colorado. Doug was an incredible historian, an airplane and antique automobile modeler. He even restored his very own 1964 Chevy II Nova which he spent the bulk of 2019 completing before enjoying cruising the streets at the Golden Nights event. Doug’s skills in carpentry were legendary; he and his wife Colleen completed many home improvement projects together and made their house in Arvada “their home.” After a lifetime of dating and friendship, Doug and Colleen were married on February 24, 2018. With friends and family by their side, they were finally back in love and together again. Enjoying their time together, Doug and Colleen traveled to Hawaii multiple times to snorkel and relax by the ocean. A trip to the Cayman Islands with Colleen’s son and daughter-in-law Marcus & Cory became memorable when Doug asked Marcus for his permission to marry Colleen. Of course, the answer was yes! Doug was an excellent marksman and avid firearms enthusiast. Colleen’s son Ryan, Ryan’s daughter Jordan and Doug would enjoy going to the shooting range together. They also enjoyed working together as mechanics on Doug’s Nova. Doug is survived by his wife Colleen Brown, step-sons, Ryan (Kendra) Laine, Marcus (Cory) Tipton and Granddaughter Jordan Laine. Doug also is survived by his mother Lorraine; sisters, brothers; nieces & nephews. Doug was proceeded in death by his son Kristoffer Brown (1992) and his first wife Jackie Stuart Brown (2014).
