Dorothy Salas, 85, passed away in Lakewood, CO on November 20, 2016. She was preceded in death in 1976 by her husband, Joseph Salas and is survived by her son, Joseph Salas, Jr. and his wife, Esther, of Odessa, TX; daughter, Beverly Salas of Lakewood, CO; son, Anthony Salas and his partner, Dave Hoemann of Chicago, IL; Rose C. Salas of Los Fresnos, TX, grandchildren, Christopher of Austin, TX; Jennifer, Jessica, Kelly; and great-granddaughter, Caira, all of Lakewood, CO. Born in England, AR on March 22, 1931, Dorothy spent most of her life in Brownsville, TX where she and her husband raised their family. She moved to Colorado late in life to be near family. Dorothy was a supporter of many charities including St. Jude's Hospital for Children, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and various animal rescue groups, including Denver Animal Shelter, where she adopted her dog, Lil Bit. She was fiercely loyal to her family, loved by numerous friends and will always be a shining light to those she leaves behind. A memorial service will be held at Mile High Church in Lakewood, CO; date and time pending. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org), St. Jude's Children's Hospital (www.stjude.org/Donate) or Denver Animal Shelter (www.denvergov.org).
